As the foremost breakers yards in South East London, Scrap Metal Services has been providing our customers in Mottingham, Eltham, Sidcup, Bromley, Greenwich, Grove Park, Lewisham, Deptford, and Catford with essential car-stripping services for almost 100 years. If you’ve got a car that is out of commission, either through age or damage, see what we can do for you.
In a nutshell, a breakers job strips down cars and other vehicles and repurpose the materials they are made of. It’s a fairly simple process, as detailed below.
First of all, give us a call, or drop into one of our professional breakers yards, and give us some details about your vehicle. We will then give you a free, no-obligation quote for what we’re prepared to pay. We always offer competitive rates for decommissioned vehicles.
The first thing we do is strip out any parts of the vehicle that are in working order and can be usefully repurposed to fit another vehicle. This is an important part of the breakers yard’s function, as many spare parts for your working car come straight from a breakers yard. These include lights, seats, exhaust systems, mirrors, hubcaps, and so on.
With the working parts out of the way, we then look to strip the scrap metal and other recyclable materials from the body of the car, which are then sold on to recycling plants to be reused.
Whatever may be left of the vehicle is generally no longer useful, and will be crushed and disposed on in as environmentally friendly a manner as we can.
